As a long time breeder of Lhasa Apso show dogs, I have always been deeply concerned and supportive against animal abuse.
Abuse for animals is not only an environmental problem, but it also deals with the origins of the animals--the genetics and the breeding program.
I have bred dogs for nearly 22 years, and in so doing, I work with the American Kennel Club in asking for spay/neuter contracts with the pet quality dogs that I sell-- strictly as companion dogs. We feel strongly that this is one way to combat the ongoing problem of unwanted pets who have been bred for other reasons besides that of quality.
I do not support the commercial market that sponsors the sale of animals in their store, nor do I encourage the breeding of dogs by the public that is not aware of genetics and the background pedigrees of the animals. I DO NOT ENCOURAGE PUPPY MILLS!!
From pet owners I have seen so much neglect, just from environmental conditions, that I try to help make the public aware of problems that perhaps they dont even think about.
I adopted Breezy from LadyJ, who I admire so much for helping to make the public aware of animal abuse. Breezy is very much at home here at Barbil Kennels, where there are seven Lhasas of her kind. She has six sisters to play with, and one brother.
She is enjoying having her own little apartment as her space here at the kennel and also the joy of running a large fenced-in back yard, where she is safe from predators, autos, and getting out and getting lost or injured. There are shade trees and many toys she has to play with, along with the company of her new family. We think she is very content and happy here and we have enough love to give her.
